David G. Smith has spent the last 37 years providing Property & Casualty Insurance placement services in the Charlotte N.C. marketplace. After graduating with a degree in business management from Virginia Tech, in 1982, David began his insurance career with Federated Mutual Insurance Companies in Atlanta, Georgia. Three years later in 1985, David began working as a licensed agent for Alexander & Alexander in Charlotte, North Carolina. Following his immediate success, in 1988, Smith transferred to Sedgwick James Insurance in the Charlotte, N.C. market. In September 1995, David was given the opportunity to begin his own independent Property & Casualty insurance agency. This launched the D.G. Smith & Co., Inc. David, and his colleagues, have been an established agency based out of Charlotte, N.C., now for 27 years. David is currently in the process of bringing his son Sam on board in the agency that has recently been rebranded as Smith Co Insurance.

Sam is an Independent Agent / Partner with Smith Co Insurance. Through selling insurance and his experience as a professional race car driver, Sam has great communication skills and welcomes any challenge. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2021 he returned to his home town Charlotte, North Carolina, and became a Certified Builders Insurance Agent. His customers are his top priority and he works diligently to provide the best risk management services for them.
